Have you ever been frustrated when someone just seems to not understand or not get it? In working with clients on a daily basis, specifically RV Dealers, it can be easy for me to fall into this trap. At its root form it must be some type of pride. Face it, most people aren't going to just 'get it'. Especially, when it has taken years to develop your own knowledge. And we would just like them to understand it in relatively short conversation.
The bottom line is that everyone has their own 'perceived reality'. The truth as they know it based on their own personal experiences. Maybe they were just burned too many times by others. Maybe they've been swindled by too many sly sales persons in the past. Maybe you caught them on a bad day. Whatever it may be, it is what it is and chances are you aren't going to change their mind in any short period of time.
When this happens I try to calm myself down and ask the right questions to find out what it is that is holding them back. Someone once said to me, you may not be able to change your prospects mind, but you may be able to help them make a different decision.
Until next time...
